 "If you want to see beautiful, traditional painting, sumptuously lit and sensuously observed, so that hand and eye linger over every meticulous detail, go to the cafe gallery at the Royal Academy to see Andrew Potter's current  exhibition. Can this be contemporary art? It certainly is and, what is more, it is covetable art. This is art for pleasure and the love of creating and seeing something perfectly done. The kind of thing that, if encountered (as his paintings frequently are) at the Summer Exhibition, induces a sigh of relief, a mental kicking off of the shoes - and that takes huge skill to make it seem so effortless. So get yourself a cup of tea and a bun, and enjoy."
